Acta Musei Beskidensis vol. 15/2025:33-68 | DOI: 10.70231/amb.2025.006

This article summarises the results of aquatic, semiaquatic, and shore bugs surveys at the locality of Bedřichův klauz near the village of Bílá in the Beskydy Protected Landscape Area (Czech Republic). Aquatic, semiaquatic, and shore bugs were studied by sampling adults and larvae in the period from 2013 to 2025 at three different sites containing stagnant waters (Bedřichův klauz reservoir) or running water (Bílá Ostravice stream). A total of 24 species belonging to 11 families were identified (Nepidae 2, Micronectidae 2, Corixidae 5, Naucoridae 1, Notonectidae 2, Pleidae 1, Hydrometridae 1, Veliidae 2, Gerridae 5, Dipsocoridae 1, Saldidae 2). Acta Musei Beskidensis vol. 15/2025:18-32 | DOI: 10.70231/amb.2025.005

In 2023–2024, a faunistic survey of selected vertebrate groups was conducted in the valley of the Ostravice River, between the Hodoňovice weir and the confluence with the Morávka River (Frýdek-Místek District). The aim of the study was to supplement the existing knowledge of the biodiversity in the Řeka Ostravice Special Area of Conservation. The field work was carried out during ten sessions, including both daytime and nighttime observations. A total of 71 vertebrate species were recorded, including two amphibian, two reptile, 61 bird, and six mammal species. Special attention was paid to species of conservation importance with 13 species protected...

The moss Timmia bavarica still grows in Štramberk and near Kopřivnice (Czech Republic)Articles

Petr Kocián

Acta Musei Beskidensis vol. 15/2025:1-17 | DOI: 10.70231/amb.2025.002

The distribution of the endangered moss Timmia bavarica in the Štramberk Karst and its surrounding areas (Moravia, Czech Republic) was studied between 2013 and 2024. The research confirmed the presence of historically known sites and led to the discovery of new locations on Kotouč hill near Štramberk. A significant new finding on Zámecký vrch hill, within the Štramberk Castle area, further expands our understanding of the moss distribution in the Štramberk Karst. Additionally, a site on Šostýn hill near Kopřivnice, located outside the Štramberk Karst, either represents a confirmation of the species’ presence from 1936 or marks a new occurrence...

The Acta Musei Beskidensis journal is entering a new era, expanding its scope with an online publishing mode. This step brings a number of innovations that will not only improve the accessibility and visibility of the journal, but also facilitate the process of its compilation and distribution. The journal continues to maintain its traditional printed form, which is important for libraries, international exchange, presentations, and for traditional buyers. At the same time, however, it responds to current trends, representing a modern way in which professional publications can be shared and read. The printed form is now complemented by an online version...

Novelties in the roadside flora of Moravia and Silesia (Czech Republic) 2: Limonium gmeliniArticles

Petr Kocián

Acta Musei Beskidensis vol. 14/2024:31-37 | DOI: 10.70231/amb.2024.004

The halophytic Limonium gmelini, a casual neophyte in the flora of the Czech Republic, is spreading along motorways in the eastern part of the country. First recorded on the D1 motorway near the city of Brno in 2009, its largest population was discovered on the D2 motorway in 2013. However, these populations disappeared by 2021 due to motorway reconstruction. Limonium gmelini grows on motorway central reservations and verges, spreading more slowly than other alien species in these habitats. In 2022 and 2023, new occurrences were documented on the D1 and D48 motorways, consisting of small, isolated populations separated by long distance.

Dragonflies (Odonata) at the Bedřichův klaus locality in the Beskydy Protected Landscape Area (Czech Republic)Articles

Petr Jeziorski

Acta Musei Beskidensis vol. 14/2024:11-30 | DOI: 10.70231/amb.2024.003

The purpose of this article is to summarize the results of dragonfly and damselfly (Odonata) surveys at the locality of Bedřichův klaus Beskydy Protected Landscape Area (Czech Republic). Odonates were studied by sampling adults, larvae, and exuvia in the period from 2013 to 2024 at four different sites with stagnant waters (Bedřichův klaus reservoir) and running waters (Bílá Ostravice stream and a nameless stream). Altogether, only 17 species were documented at the site. Two of them, Onychogomphus forcipatus and Cordulegaster bidentata, are listed as near threatened in the Czech Red List.
