The Acta Musei Beskidensis journal is entering a new era, expanding its scope with an online publishing mode. This step brings a number of innovations that will not only improve the accessibility and visibility of the journal, but also facilitate the process of its compilation and distribution. The journal continues to maintain its traditional printed form, which is important for libraries, international exchange, presentations, and for traditional buyers. At the same time, however, it responds to current trends, representing a modern way in which professional publications can be shared and read. The printed form is now complemented by an online version...

Novelties in the roadside flora of Moravia and Silesia (Czech Republic) 2: Limonium gmeliniArticles

Petr Kocián

Acta Musei Beskidensis vol. 14/2024:31-37 | DOI: 10.70231/amb.2024.004

The halophytic Limonium gmelini, a casual neophyte in the flora of the Czech Republic, is spreading along motorways in the eastern part of the country. First recorded on the D1 motorway near the city of Brno in 2009, its largest population was discovered on the D2 motorway in 2013. However, these populations disappeared by 2021 due to motorway reconstruction. Limonium gmelini grows on motorway central reservations and verges, spreading more slowly than other alien species in these habitats. In 2022 and 2023, new occurrences were documented on the D1 and D48 motorways, consisting of small, isolated populations separated by long distance.

Dragonflies (Odonata) at the Bedřichův klaus locality in the Beskydy Protected Landscape Area (Czech Republic)Articles

Petr Jeziorski

Acta Musei Beskidensis vol. 14/2024:11-30 | DOI: 10.70231/amb.2024.003

The purpose of this article is to summarize the results of dragonfly and damselfly (Odonata) surveys at the locality of Bedřichův klaus Beskydy Protected Landscape Area (Czech Republic). Odonates were studied by sampling adults, larvae, and exuvia in the period from 2013 to 2024 at four different sites with stagnant waters (Bedřichův klaus reservoir) and running waters (Bílá Ostravice stream and a nameless stream). Altogether, only 17 species were documented at the site. Two of them, Onychogomphus forcipatus and Cordulegaster bidentata, are listed as near threatened in the Czech Red List.

Jiří Kocián, Jana Tkáčiková

Acta Musei Beskidensis vol. 14/2024:1-10 | DOI: 10.70231/amb.2024.002

An exhibition of live fungi was held at the Museum of the Beskydy, Frýdek-Místek from 30 September to 6 October 2024. As a side event, a mycological excursion to Kozlovická hora Hill took place on 5 October. During the preparation of the exhibition and the excursion, 108 fungal taxa were collected at 19 sites in the Frýdek-Místek and Vsetín Districts, and supplemented by several other regional finds. Altogether, more than 130 taxa of fungi were displayed at the exhibition. Three red-list species were found, namely Entocybe nitida (NT), Hydnellum peckii (VU), and Sarcodon imbricatus (NT).

Tomáš Kuras, Tereza Garbová, Marek Fišer

Acta Musei Beskidensis 2023, 13:102-119 | DOI: 10.70231/amb.2023.005

This study deals with a survey of butterflies (Papilionoidea) and burnets (Zygaenoidea) occurring in Obidová Nature Monument (Beskydy Protected Landscape Area). Extensive monitoring of the locality was conducted between 2007 and 2023 (more intensively during 2011 and 2023). Specimens were captured by net sweeping the vegetation and zigzag walking at the locality. Altogether 47 species were recorded, i.e. 44 butterfly and 3 burnet species. Regarding day-active Lepidoptera, the locality is important in terms of both species richness and species abundances. Some of the species are listed as endangered (e.g. Lycaena hippothoe, L. alciphron, Cyaniris...

Dragonflies (Odonata) of Kačení louka Nature Reserve and its vicinity, Litovelské Pomoraví Protected Landscape Area (Czech Republic)Articles

Petr Jeziorski

Acta Musei Beskidensis 2023, 13:55-101 | DOI: 10.70231/amb.2023.004

This article summarizes the results of dragonfly and damselfly (Odonata) surveys in Kačení louka Nature Reserve and at 5 adjacent localities in the Litovelské Pomoraví Protected Landscape Area (Czech Republic). The studied material (adults and larvae) was collected between 1995 and 2000 at 6 different localities which contain stagnant waters (alluvial meadow, sedge meadow, ditch, forest fen and pond) and slowly running water (canal). A total of 42 species were found at the studied localities, 20 species at locality no. 1 (Moravičany, alluvial meadow), 33 species at locality no. 2 (Moravičany, Kačení louka Nature Reserve, predominantly a sedge meadow),...

During the collection of fungi for the exhibition of live fungi at the Museum of the Beskydy, Frýdek-Místek in 2023, 148 fungal taxa were recorded at seven major localities in the districts of Frýdek-Místek and Vsetín. These included five red-list taxa, namely Clavariadelphus truncatus (Missing [probably extinct] category), Lactarius repraesentaneus (Endangered category), Hydnellum peckii and Russula viscida (Near Threatened category). One taxon, Russula submembranacea, is classified in the Data Deficient category.

In total, 135 taxa of bryophytes (32 liverworts and 103 mosses) were recorded at the locality, including one endangered species (EN), Thamnobryum neckeroides, two vulnerable species (VU), Buxbaumia viridis and Syzygiella autumnalis, four lower risk – near threatened species (LR-nt), Campylostelium saxicola, Calypogeia suecica, Cephalozia catenulata,...

Cochlearia danica has finally arrived in the northeastern part of the Czech RepublicArticles

Petr Kocián

Acta Musei Beskidensis 2023, 13:3-14 | DOI: 10.70231/amb.2023.001

Cochlearia danica, a recently discovered alien to the flora of the Czech Republic, was found also in the northeastern part of this country. The species was reported for the first time along Czech roads in 2016. Today, about 180 localities along motorways and roads are known, all of them in Bohemia, but one in Moravia. In 2022, new localities were found along motorways D48 and D1 and also along roads I/11 and I/48 in Czech Silesia in the eastern part of the country. Cochlearia danica was certainly introduced to the localities by road traffic. On the D48 motorway, it forms a large, about 6 km long linear population predominantly in the central...
