Acta Musei Beskidensis 2010, 2:1-5 | DOI: 10.70231/amb.2010.001

Waterfall on the Mazák brook, flowing from the southwestern slopes of Lysá hora Mt., is supposed to be the highest waterfall of the Moravskoslezské Beskydy Mts. so far. Its highest step, that is defined by the lithological settings (boundary between resistant sandstone sequences of the Middle Godula Formation and fine-rhytmic flysch of the Lower Godula Formation), is 17 m high. This study gives geomorphological characteristics of the brook area, description of the field works, morphological description of the waterfall and comparison with another waterfalls of the Moravskoslezské Beskydy Mts.

Acta Musei Beskidensis 2010, 2:63-74 | DOI: 10.70231/amb.2010.006

From 1992 to 2009 I carried out a faunistic research of dragonflies in 25 localities in the region of Místek town in the northern Moravia. I found 38 species of dragonflies (i.e. 54 % from species richness in the Czech Republic). There were found several scarce species - Anax parthenope (Selys, 1839), as a migrants Crocothemis erythraea (Brullé, 1832), Orthetrum brunneum (Fonscolombe, 1837) and Anax ephippiger (Burmeister, 1839). Valuable habitats in the region are - forest spring areas in the Palkovické hůrky Hills with stable population of Cordulegaster bidentata Selys, 1843, sand-gravel shoals in river basin of Ostravice river with occurrence of...

Otakar Holuša, Matúš Kúdela

Acta Musei Beskidensis 2010, 2:75-87 | DOI: 10.70231/amb.2010.007

The occurrence of Cordulegaster heros Theischinger, 1979 was studied in details in the southern part of Slovakia during 1997-2009. At present four regions with its occurrence are known - the Borská nížina Lowland, the Malé Karpaty Mts. in the western Slovakia, the Revúcka vrchovina Highlands and the Stolické vrchy Hills in central Slovakia. The species was found at totally 44 localities, which lay at the altitude from 194 to 516 m a.s.l. with its main occurrence in the range of 201-300 m a.s.l. The evaluation of occurrence was based on records of larvae. Area of Cordulegaster heros in southern Slovakia is seemingly disjunctive.

Michal Ryšán, Petr Kočárek

Acta Musei Beskidensis 2010, 2:103-115 | DOI: 10.70231/amb.2010.009

Ecological preferences of four coexisting Cicindela L., 1758 species were studied in relation to abiotic and biotic conditions in anthropogenic coal-mine landscape in Prostřední Suchá, Czech Republic. The study was focused to habitat requirements of Cicindela larvae in coal-mine sump mud. The most common species was Cicindela hybrida L., 1758, the larvae of which showed the lowest pattern of requirements for habitat. On the contrary, larvae of C. arenaria Füessly, 1775 and C. germanica L., 1758 showed distinctive habitat preferences in relation to substrate humidity, to the portion of clay and to the moss floor development in the case of C. germanica,...

Motýli (Lepidoptera) Přírodní rezervace Suchá Dora a jejího okolí (Oderské vrchy)

Butterflies (Lepidoptera) of the Suchá Dora Nature Reserve and its surroundings (Oderské vrchy Hills)

Tomáš Kuras, Monika Mazalová

Acta Musei Beskidensis 2010, 2:117-137 | DOI: 10.70231/amb.2010.010

Altogether 498 species of Lepidoptera were recorded in the Suchá Dora Nature Reserve and its surroundings. Number of lepidopteran species recorded in broader region, i.e. south-eastern part of the Oderské vrchy Hills, reached 764. From the ecological point of view, the two significant groups are recognized: species associated with the herb-rich beech forest and the meadow species. Following management steps are proposed, different for the two valuable ecological groups of lepidopterans. The non-action strategy seems to be the most appropriate management for the semi-natural beech forest (with the aim of the climax beechwood, risen due to the spontanneous...

Acta Musei Beskidensis 2010, 2:139-156 | DOI: 10.70231/amb.2010.011

We investigated lepidopteran fauna in the Svinec Nature Reserve near Kojetín u Starého Jičína (Nový Jičín District). The locality represents fragment of former xerothermic pasture and adjacent forests on the southwestern slopes of the Petřkovické vrchy Hills. During fourteen years of investigation (1992-2002 and 2006-2008) we registered 777 species of Lepidoptera. Several of them are classified as rare, endangered or remarkable from faunistic point of view, i.e. Neurothaumasia ankerella (Mann, 1867), Tinea steueri (Petersen, 1966), Rebelia cf. sapho (Millière, 1868), Coleophora paripennella (Zeller, 1839), Eteobalea anonymella (Riedl, 1965),...

Hymenoptera of selected localities of the eastern Moravia and Silesia (Czech Republic)

Libor Dvořák, Jaroslav Holuša, Kamil Holý, Jan Macek, Vladimír Smetana, Jakub Straka, Peter Šima

Acta Musei Beskidensis 2010, 2:157-172 | DOI: 10.70231/amb.2010.012

In total, 82 hymenopteran species were found in 20 localities of the eastern Moravia and Silesia by Malaise trap, sweeping and beating in 2006-2009. The low number of collected species is a result of (i) short period of this study, (ii) very cloudy and rainy weather during period of study and (iii) destroying of traps by flooding and people. Lasioglossum semilucens (Alfken, 1914) is endangered species sporadically found predominantly in the southern parts of the Czech Republic. Mountain bumble bee Bombus jonellus (Kirby, 1802) inhabits virgin spruce forests and peat bogs and may be a glacial relict. Several localities with the occurrence of this species...
