Butterflies (Lepidoptera) of the Svinec Nature Reserve (Nový Jičín District) and proposal of the locality management change

We investigated lepidopteran fauna in the Svinec Nature Reserve near Kojetín u Starého Jičína (Nový Jičín District). The locality represents fragment of former xerothermic pasture and adjacent forests on the southwestern slopes of the Petřkovické vrchy Hills. During fourteen years of investigation (1992-2002 and 2006-2008) we registered 777 species of Lepidoptera. Several of them are classified as rare, endangered or remarkable from faunistic point of view, i.e. Neurothaumasia ankerella (Mann, 1867), Tinea steueri (Petersen, 1966), Rebelia cf. sapho (Millière, 1868), Coleophora paripennella (Zeller, 1839), Eteobalea anonymella (Riedl, 1965), Mirificarma maculatella (Hübner, 1796), Acompsia schmidtiellus (Heyden, 1848), Jordanita globulariae (Hübner, 1793), Fulvoclysia nerminae (Koçak, 1982), Aethes fennicana (Hering, 1924), Acleris rufana (Denis & Schiffermüller, 1775), Gymnancyla hornigii (Lederer, 1853), Ancylosis oblitella (Zeller, 1848), Homoeosoma sinuella (Fabricius, 1794), Aporodes floralis (Hübner, 1809), Anania verbascalis (Denis & Schiffermüller, 1775), Cosmotriche lobulina (Denis & Schiffermüller, 1775), Lemonia taraxaci (Denis & Schiffermüller, 1775), Hyles euphorbiae (Linnaeus, 1758), Lycaena dispar (Haworth, 1803), Isturgia arenacearia (Denis & Schiffermüller, 1775), Cyclophora quercimontaria (Bastelberger, 1897), Cyclophora ruficiliaria (Herrich-Schäffer, 1855), Asthena anseraria (Herrich-Schäffer, 1855), Drymonia querna (Denis & Schiffermüller, 1775), Schrankia costaestrigalis (Stephens, 1834), Euchalcia modestoides (Poole, 1989), Diachrysia chryson (Esper, 1789), Eublemma purpurinum (Denis & Schiffermüller, 1775), Polymixis polymita (Linnaeus, 1761), Abromias oblonga (Haworth, 1809), Nola cristatula (Hübner, 1793). Endangered Lepidoptera related especially with grassland-habitats. Currently, an intensive cutting of grasslands is the only management used in the reservation. It will be usefull to practise more extensive management with leaving some patches of grasslands without farming influence.
