Detailed characteristics (tree species composition, tree representation, identification features) are presented by 7th (Fageti-piceeta s.lat.), 8th (Piceeta s.lat.) and 9th (Pineta mugo s.lat.) vegetation tiers of northeastern Moravia and Silesia (Czech Republic). 7th vegetation tier creates the communities with dominant tree species (main edificator) of Picea abies (L.) Karsten (with the representation up to 70 %) which creates the main and the co-dominant level where it reaches up to maximum height of 40 m. Fagus sylvatica L. is already subdominant and it creates the overtopped level with the maximum height of 25 m and its representation is up to...

Acta Musei Beskidensis 2011, 3:17-30 | DOI: 10.70231/amb.2011.002

The border between Polonic and Westcarpathian biogeographical subprovinces in the Czech Republic is unclear at present day. The research plots were stabilized on transects leading in transitional area. On the research plots detailed soil and phytosociological survey were made. Cluster analysis and canonical variate analysis were used in soil data processing. Results show that there are two different existing areas. Anhydromorphous modal soils with sandy texture and high total nutrients are typical for south part of the area on axis Štramberk town, Hukvaldy Mt., Metylovická hůrka Mt. and Prašivá Mt. In the northern part of the area, there are polygenic...

Poznámky k výskytu některých bezobratlých v rozsedlinových jeskyních flyše Vnějších Západních Karpat

Notes on the occurrence of some invertebrates in crevice-type caves in the flysch area of the Outer Western Carpathians

Jan Lenart

Acta Musei Beskidensis 2011, 3:49-54 | DOI: 10.70231/amb.2011.004

Crevice-type caves are a common phenomenon in the flysch area of the Outer Western Carpathians. Cave occurrence is connected with Holocene slope deformations. These caves provide good living conditions for some species of invertebrates. 8 species were found in the 8 caves recorded. Living conditions in the caves are generally not the same. There are three types of ecotopes where invertebrates can appear: the internal cave ecotope, ecotone sensu lato and ecotone sensu stricto. Ecotones represent a transitional zone between the outer and inner environment. These three ecotopes have been classified based on the presence of organic material, daylight and...

In 2007-2009, altogether 7,094 individuals of centipedes and terrestrial isopods were caught using the method of pitfall traps at 38 localities in the area of the mountain range of the Smrk and Kněhyně hills, the Čeladenka valley and Čeladná-Podolánky surroundings, the Moravskoslezské Beskydy Mts. Among 18 species of centipedes there are two species newly recorded for the territory, Lithobius biunguiculatus Loksa, 1947 and Lithobius pelidnus Haase, 1880. Our data present the first investigation of terrestrial isopods in this territory. Till this time, 32 species of centipedes and 7 species of terrestrial isopods were reported for the territory of the...

Two larvae of Cordulegaster heros (Theischinger, 1979) were found on 15th October 2011 at locality Kudlovice village - the Kudlovický potok stream and Jankovice village - the Jankovický potok stream on the southern slopes of the Chřiby Hills in the Czech Republic. The finding of larvae shows the permanent occurrence of species in the Czech Republic.

Acta Musei Beskidensis 2011, 3:71-84 | DOI: 10.70231/amb.2011.007

The main objective of this work is to determine species diversity of order Psocoptera based on the taxocenose structure of psocid model group in selected forest ecosystems from the 4th to 9th vegetation zone in the Králický Sněžník Mts. During growing season of 2010, in the area of interest 19 experimental plots were established where species from order Psocoptera were collected. Totally, 475 psocid adults were caught in the experimental area. In the collected material, 17 species were determined, what represents 13,3 % of the total known psocid species in the Czech Republic. Dominant species were evaluated for each vegetation zone, tree and plot....

Acta Musei Beskidensis 2011, 3:131-141 | DOI: 10.70231/amb.2011.010

Communities of epigeic beetles were studied during 2008-2010 on plantations of fast growing plant species for energetic purposes and in surrounding biotopes. The method of pitfall trapping was used for beetle sampling. Four plots of fast growing plants (Dactylis glomerata L., Arrhenatherum elatius (L.) J. Presl et C. Presl, Phalaris arundinacea L. and Helianthus tuberosus L.) and during 2009-2010 also surrounding lawn habitat were studied. Carabid beetles (Carabidae) and rove beetles (Staphylinidae) were used as bioindicators. 29 species and 205 individuals of family Staphylinidae and 40 species and 1,584 individuals of family Carabidae (69 species...

Distribution survey of selected fishes in Odra River Basin took place in 2009 and 2010. The objective was to find out namely actual distribution of Cottus poecilopus Heckel, 1837 (siberian bullhead) in the Moravskoslezské Beskydy Mts. water flows and the comparison of the ichthyocoenoses structures with the knowledge gained in the past. The field research was carried out in 47 streams in the Ostravice River catchment, down to the confluence with the Morávka River. The results have confirmed that Cottus poecilopus is the only fish species in mountainous flows creating true populations. This species was found in 43 flows, i.e. in 93 % of the flows with...

Acta Musei Beskidensis 2011, 3:163-171 | DOI: 10.70231/amb.2011.012

Presented paper deals with rabies incidence in Frýdek-Místek region. It follows the progress of the health situation since 1987. Last case of rabies in this area was confirmed in 2001. The principal reservoir of rabies is the red fox. Total number of 1258 foxes and 32 other vertebrates were examined for rabies. This study includes 9271 hunted foxes. This study shows a relationship between oral vaccination and the size of the fox population. The results show decline of rabies in the area after the initiation of oral vaccination, and fox population growth after the initiation of oral vaccination. Density of the fox population in Frýdek-Místek region...

Vývoj litostratigrafického členění české části hornoslezské pánve od roku 1928

Acta Musei Beskidensis 2011, 3:173-186 | DOI: 10.70231/amb.2011.013

The questions of the lithostratigraphical division of the coal basins are important part of the study of their development and geological settings. Although Carboniferous sediments are probably the most explored with regard to occurrence of the bituminous coal deposits, its division remains the topic of discussion. This article gives a brief overviews of the division of the coal-bearing Carboniferous of the Upper Silesian Basin, particularly of its Czech part, since the year 1928 to its present form. It should be considered as a base of all joint Czech-Polish geological projects in the area.
